This is a print of the original watercolor painting. The print is scrupulously perfected and produced on the finest artist grade Moab Entrada cotton paper.
This specimen is from Sapo Mine, Brazil. Tourmaline comes in seven different types, each with different color patterns. This one is elbaite, which is the multi-coloured variety- such a specimen exhibits the most variably hued of all known gems. Egyptians called it "rainbow rock", believing it to have gathered different minerals on its way up from the depths of the earth. Tourmaline is actually a group of species in itself, having many minerals in its composition including dravite, schorl and lithium.
This print does not come with a handmade frame, however I do sell framed originals at https://www.saatchiart.com/badelmann
